Lloyds Register
Redesign for a commercial unit performance dashboard, tracking site compliance and accidents
Overview
“LR’s decades of experience working with some of the largest and most complex retailers, restaurant and hospitality chains, gives us the ability to develop specific programmes of work aimed at addressing the specific issues faced by our clients.”
I was hired by Lloyds Register and tasked with rebranding the client's suite of software after a company merger, and to create a new application to be included in a suite of software provided to their retail customers. I conducted user research, interviews and requirement gathering and focused on information architecture before rapidly wireframing concepts and ideas.
During my time working with the client, I was responsible for leading internal workshops with staff members and clients, user research, stakeholder management, prototyping, design system creation and producing high-fidelity wireframes.

The Challenge
The client requested that the new product had a dashboard which showed an overview of incidents and issues that required immediate attention and key metrics displayed as charts so managers could action a resolution. This should be prominent and above the fold when the user sign-in so that it can be easily identified. They also required the whole application to be clear and intuitive, with a simple navigation for users to quickly browse to different dashboards.
Unfortunately due to my NDA I'm unable to share my research on this project.
Prototype
Once I had the design system and wireframes signed off, I proceeded to create prototypes in Figma for the login page and main dashboard view. I also created a dark version as a option for the developers to include if their customers required it. Due to my NDA I'm unable to show the individual service pages.
Conclusion
This project took around four months to complete, with multiple visits to different offices across the Lothian area. I really enjoyed planning, setting up and interviewing stakeholders across all sections of the business in order to gain a better understanding of clients requirements.
The client also provided very comprehensive brand design guidelines, which limited my creativity somewhat, but I was allowed some autonomy in the way I designed the dashboard. The most challenging aspect of this project was developing the customer flow for different customer access levels.
